How to use temp mail for OTP and verification codes
Open TempMail, copy the address it has already made, paste it into the sign-up form, and read the code in the inbox. Most codes arrive within a minute. The steps below cover the phone apps and the browser, plus the accounts where a disposable address is the wrong choice.
On Android or iPhone
- Install TempMail from Google Play or the App Store and open it. A temporary address is already waiting at the top of the screen.
- Tap the copy button next to the address.
- Paste it into the sign-up or "verify your email" form and submit it.
- Go back to TempMail and tap refresh. Premium refreshes on its own every 5 seconds while the app is open.
- Open the message. It shows as the sender designed it, so a six-digit code stays large and a "Verify email" button is still a button. Links open in your phone's browser.
On a computer
- Open gettempmail.net in any browser. There is nothing to install and no account to create.
- Copy the address shown at the top and paste it into the form.
- Refresh the inbox until the message appears, then open it and copy the code.
Good uses for a disposable address
- Trying an app or website once before deciding whether to keep it
- Downloads, coupons and newsletters that sit behind an email form
- Wi-Fi portals in cafes, airports and hotels
- Testing your own sign-up flow during development
When to use your real email instead
A verification code is often only the first email an account sends you. Password resets, security alerts and receipts go to the same address later. Messages in TempMail are deleted from our server 12 hours after they arrive, and anyone who knows an address can open its inbox. So keep disposable addresses away from:
- Banking, payments, crypto exchanges and anything holding money
- Your main email, phone or cloud accounts, and their recovery settings
- Work, school and government services
- Any account you would be upset to lose
If you want to return to an address later, a custom address with a name that is hard to guess is the better choice, but the same caution applies.
If the code does not arrive
Some sites refuse disposable domains, and some are slow. The eight-step checklist for missing emails walks through what to try, starting with the quickest fixes.
Questions
Can I use temp mail for OTP?
Yes, for sign-ups you do not need to keep. Copy the TempMail address into the form, then refresh the inbox to read the code. Avoid it for banking, payments and accounts you need to recover later.
Can I get the same code again later?
Only within 12 hours. Messages are deleted from the TempMail server 12 hours after they arrive, so a site that emails you again later should send a new code.
